Il progetto DNR inizia a prendere forma nel 2005, quando Kira, bassista del gruppo, da sempre artisticamente influenzato dalla scena Jrock/Visual Kei Giapponese, decide di creare una band che abbia per obbiettivo la fusione di due sonorità apparentemente inconciliabili: il groove europeo e le linee melodiche asiatiche.
Un incontro tra Oriente ed Occidente, un genere nuovo, battezzato “Eurovisual”, che ci trasporta in un universo d'avanguardia dove l'elettronica e la melodia incontrano riffs tipicamente made in USA.
Insieme ad Ash (batteria) e Sieg (chitarra), il progetto DNR prende vita, e per quanto ancora incompleto il trio inizia a comporre pezzi che diventeranno poi dei classici del loro repertorio live come Follow me, Breakoutnlive, Energy... La ricerca di una voce si conclude nel 2007 quando Mantis entra a far parte della band.
Il suo timbro di voce romantico si adatta perfettamente alle composizioni. Lo stesso anno il gruppo decide di sperimentare l'aggiunta di un tastierista, DeLord, esperienza alla quale verrà posta fine all'inizio del 2010.
Il quintetto registra diversi titoli tra i cui il suo primo singolo, Visual Evolution, ed in seguito l'EP Visual Reload.
Nel 2009, il trio originario e il cantante, al seguito di divergenze artistiche decidono di separarsi per proseguire ognuno su strade fondamentalmente diverse.
Lo stesso anno la formazione, ribattezzata Dreams Not Reality, trova finalmente la sua voce definitiva nella persona di Axia, le cui doti canore danno una nuova forza alla band. Il suo timbro dinamico ed aggressivo, eredità delle sue collaborazioni con cover band hard rock, il suo carisma scenico, dovuto anche alla sua esperienza di palchi esteri, contribuiscono a rendere i DNR un gruppo unico nel suo genere, che suscita sempre più curiosità, in Italia e all'estero.
Curiosità che li porterà ad esibirsi sia sul nostro territorio che nei paesi dell'Est, dove diventano un vero fenomeno, riempendo sale di concerto e suscitando un'immediata ammirazione tra le fan.
Nel 2009 arriva anche una collaborazione inaspettata, “bizzarra” forse. Luminor, ex tastierista dei Cinema Bizarre, interessato al loro progetto, registra insieme a loro degli inediti come special guest e li accompagna per una serie di concerti in Italia e all'Estero.
Nel 2011,dopo aver registrato il primo singolo/video “Beyond this world” il quartetto decide di tornare in 5 elementi chiudendo definitivamente la line-up con l’arrivo della “quinta essenza” direttamente da Tokyo, Giappone; l’attore, modello cantante e tastierista, il poliedrico Sebastiano Serafini aka: SEBA.

The project called DNR starts in 2005, when Kira, bassist, since ever artistically influenced by the Jrock/Visual Kei Japanese scene, decide to create a band that would be the fusion between two opposite sounds: the european groove and the asiatic melodic lines.
An encounter between Orient and Occident, a new genre, called “Eurovisual”, that transport us in an avant garde universe where electronics and melody meet powerfull riffs made in USA.
Along with Ash (drums) and Sieg (guitar), the DNR project come to life and even if the line up still incomplete, the trio starts to write songs like Follow me, Breakoutnlive, that will become live standards. The search for a voice end in 2007 when Mantis join the band. The romantic tone of his voice seems to be perfectly adapted to the tracks.
The same year the band decide to experiment the add of a keyboardist, DeLord, experience that ended at the beginning of 2010.
The quintet records some titles among them their first single, Visual Evolution, and the Ep Visual Reload.
During 2009, the original trio and the singer, due to artistic differences decide to split up to proceed their career in two different directions.
The same year the trio, changing its name in Dreams Not Reality (DNR) finally find its definitive voice with Axia, which vocal qualities open new ways to the band's work. His dynamic and aggressive tone, legacy of his past cooperations with hard rock cover bands, his scenic charisma due to his experience of the foreign scenes, contribute to the singularity of DNR, a band unique in its genre, inspiring curiosity in Italy and the rest of the world.
Curiosity who will lead them to play live in their own country and in many East European territories, filling venues and driving the public crazy.
In 2009 also come an unexpected contribution, “bizarre” could we say.
Luminor, Cinema Bizarre ex-keyboardist, interessed in their project record some track with them as special guest and perform with the band in a serie of live shows in Italy and Europe.
In 2011, after recording their first single/video "Beyond This World", the quartet decides to come back to 5 elements, definitely completing the line-up with the coming of the "quintessence", directly from Tokyo, Japan; actor, model singer and keyboarder, the amazing Sebastiano Serafini aka: SEBA on keys and vocals.
